I went there, service was rushed, the rice was hard and dry and not fluffy. Chicken and satay were unremarkable. The worse was the gado… sad few pieces of vegetable and watery peanut sauce with a few crackers. I won’t be going back there

I just had lunch there going off the high praise from this vid, and boy did they not disappoint. The Nasi lemak is fantastic, but the kueh and beef rendang were what stood out to me the most.

Don't eat at these restaurants, really. For real. You are doing every single mistakes in the book. Fancy restaurant, looking for "indonesian food". The very first thing that you MUST understand. Indonesia is NOT Malaysia or Singapore or Thailand, where you can find "Indonesian dish". A generic restaurant like Bogor Cafe or Seribu Rasa are just that. Generic. They would sell anything they could get their hands on. To picture it, imagine that you found a restaurant, that sells spaghetti, bradwurst, duck confit, taco, sushi and laksa at the same time. That's what seribu rasa is. And then you expected to get the best laksa in town. No, you won't get that. You need to find singaporean restaurant for a good laksa. Indonesia is like Europe, with european countries as Indonesian provinces. You won't get a good baguette at italian restaurant, and you won't get good pasta at mexican restaurant. If you want to get a good Sop Buntut, go to East Javanese restaurant. Nasi lemak or Nasi uduk, is Sundanese. So if you want a good nasi uduk, find sundanese restaurant. Like you did with Coto. It is a makassar establishment, and it wasn't even the best one. Find Palubasa Serigala for the soup. Karebosi is also a good one for Konro. Actually coto is soto in Makassar dialect. Next time if you want to find food in Indonesia, do remember, that Indonesia is not one, and each of us has our own culture, and all cultures has their own dishes, that just won't be easily replicated by other culture. So you need to find respective restaurant for that. Padang food in Padang restaurant, Makassar food in Makassar restaurant, javanese food in Javanese restaurant, and so on. Banana fritter that you tried is coming from Borneo. I usually buy them from bu nanik. But bu nanik usually has long queue. Pisang goreng Pasti is much faster, and is not too far taste wise. If you are singaporean that loves laksa, you should find kari bihun medan at tabona. It's Medan dish, so you'll hear people speak in localized mandarin there. Some Manado restaurant like Sarang Oci is also good. And if you like fish, find Kepala Kakap at Medan Baru. It is Padang Restaurant. If you love milk fish, find bandeng presto at semarang restaurant. Try their lumpia, soto, or gandul while you are there. Coffee I prefer Kopi Kenangan than Fore, or better yet, Kok Tong. But these people like Kok Tong Coffee are not beating around the bush. They sell black coffee. Strong one, and very tasty. I hope you are not done exploring Indonesia. LOL. Just come, and give me a shout. I'll show you around.

Try Melaka pork satay .. it has a savoury marinade which I prefer than those sweet kind I bought a bottle of Village Park Sambal and added some of it to my Boon Lay Power Nasi Lemak.. even more shiok..it was less sweet and more depth

Sate Kajang Hj Samuri - really good satay chain... just had a bunch today! Restoran Meng Kee Char Siew - another really good char siew spot, used to also be st Jln Alor but that branch has closed for a decade or two. the crunch of the caramelized crust, thick black sticky marinade the the perfect 1/3 fat, 2/3 meat ratio... for BKT I'm sorry but u have to travel to klang for that... Hot Bird Damansara Uptown. is super popular for their fried chicken, super long queues, supposedly good... ive not tried due to insane queues.

Based on my past experience Alderic, any stall owner that has attitude similar to Zaini's Satay owner most of the time their food gonna be good 😂. Because they know people will coming back for the food even though the owner has that kind of attitude.
